A striking 1965 Pontiac LeMans Sport Coupe built as a GTO tribute has drawn attention at auction for its classic looks and period-style performance setup. The maroon post coupe, currently offered in Chicago, Illinois, is equipped with a 400-cubic-inch Ram Air V8 and a four-speed manual transmission, blending factory LeMans styling with the muscle car spirit of Pontiac’s iconic GTO.

The 1965 model year marked a major design shift for Pontiac’s A-body lineup, introducing vertically stacked quad headlights, a more sculpted body, and a deep twin-grille design that gave the LeMans and GTO a stronger, sportier stance. This example stays faithful to that look, featuring chrome brightwork, GTO badging, and 14-inch wheels that complete the vintage appearance.

Inside, the tribute car carries a maroon vinyl and cloth interior with bucket seats, a floor-mounted shifter, and factory-style instrumentation. Details such as a three-spoke steering wheel, AM/FM radio, vent windows, and roll-down side glass help preserve the authentic 1960s driving experience. Power steering and power brakes provide added comfort and drivability, while the 400ci V8 and manual gearbox ensure the car delivers the kind of performance enthusiasts expect from a GTO-inspired build.

The seller notes a few cosmetic imperfections in the paint, including swirl marks and light flaws in the clearcoat, but overall, the car presents as a well-kept and thoughtfully assembled tribute. Included with the sale are a GTO restoration guide and the original speedometer with odometer, adding to its collector appeal.
With bidding currently at $15,000 and several days remaining before the auction closes on October 30, the LeMans tribute offers enthusiasts a more attainable entry into the world of classic Pontiac muscle—complete with the look, sound, and feel that defined the era. See it here.
