A rare left-hand-drive 1965 Aston Martin DB5 Vantage in Silver Birch heads to auction with $1M estimate.
A rare 1965 Aston Martin DB5 Vantage, one of just 21 factory-optioned left-hand-drive examples, will cross the block at Broad Arrow’s Las Vegas Auction in October 2025. Estimated at $850,000 to $1,000,000, the car is expected to attract global interest as one of the most coveted British grand tourers of its era.
Chassis number DB5/2136/L, with engine number 400/2131/V, is a matching-numbers U.S.-market example. It was originally delivered in Sierra Blue with a Dark Blue Connolly leather interior but has since been restored in the quintessential Silver Birch with Black leather upholstery, mirroring the famous James Bond film cars that cemented the DB5’s global reputation.
The Vantage specification elevated the DB5 to its most powerful form, thanks to an upgraded 4.0-liter straight-six engine producing 325 horsepower. This example was also well-optioned from the factory, featuring chrome wheels, Normalair air conditioning, and a heated rear windscreen—rare comforts for a high-performance GT of the 1960s.
The DB5 remains one of the most iconic sports cars of all time, celebrated as much for its elegant design by Carrozzeria Touring of Milan as for its association with the James Bond franchise. The model’s appearance in Goldfinger in 1964 forever linked it to British sophistication and cutting-edge style.
Only 1,059 DB5s were built between 1963 and 1965, and of those, just 21 Vantage Coupes were delivered in left-hand-drive, making this example a true rarity.
