1955 Chevy Corvette Built To Prototype Test Three-Speed Manuals

This car was used to test the three-speed manual transmissions before they were a factory option.

Built in June of 1955, this classic 1955 Chevy Corvette is said to have been used by GM to test their options when it came to the three-speed manual transmission, before it ever took duty on the model. After being fit tested, this so-called prototype was sold off in the 1960s and then moved to Oregon in the late 1980s. This is an undeniably interesting part of Chevy Corvette history, and this 1955 Chevrolet Corvette 265 3-Speed could be part of your collection.

Finished in a red exterior over a light beige interior, powering this Chevy Corvette is a 265 cubic inch V8 engine. It has a tan soft top, and the ignition and braking systems were overhauled in March of 2019. The current owner of this 1955 Chevrolet Corvette 265 3-Speed bought the car in 2018, and is offering it up as a NCRS Top Flight award car, with corresponding paperwork, as well as service records and a clean title.
