A highly documented 1968 Dodge Coronet R/T equipped with a factory 426 Hemi engine and four-speed manual transmission is drawing attention for its rarity, originality and extensive restoration work, standing as one of the most desirable Mopar muscle cars from the late 1960s.

Finished in Bright Blue over a white interior, the Coronet R/T remains especially notable due to its limited production numbers. Just 219 Hemi-powered Coronet R/T models were built for 1968, and only 100 were equipped with a four-speed manual transmission. This example also retains its original numbers-matching drivetrain and all original sheet metal, while showing only 26,684 original miles.

The car’s history is supported by an unusually complete collection of factory documentation, including the original order form, invoice, finance contract, down payment receipts and three build sheets. The factory glovebox pouch remains intact with manuals and the original Certicard, adding further authenticity to the vehicle.
The exterior has been refinished in its factory-correct B5 Bright Blue paint, with attention given to preserving the car’s original appearance. The body remains laser straight with carefully aligned panels and original metal throughout. Period-correct details such as the painted pinstripe, round side marker lights unique to the 1968 model year and the factory-style vinyl roof contribute to the car’s authentic presentation.
Chrome and stainless trim have either been restored or professionally refinished, while the car rides on Magnum 500 wheels wrapped in new BFGoodrich tires with a wider rear setup that complements the Coronet’s muscular stance.
Inside, the factory white interior has been fully restored while maintaining its original character. The cabin features rebuilt bucket seats, restored rally gauges and a fully refreshed dash assembly. New reproduction carpeting, headliner, door panels and visors were installed throughout the interior. At the center of the cabin sits the factory-style four-speed shifter, reinforcing the car’s high-performance identity.

Under the hood is the original VIN-matching 426 Hemi engine, though it has been professionally rebuilt and enlarged to 484 cubic inches. According to the vehicle’s specifications, the upgraded engine produced 634 horsepower and 581 pound-feet of torque during dyno testing. The engine bay has been restored to factory-style presentation standards, featuring dual Carter carburetors, correct-style fuel lines, reproduction spark plug wires and restored factory components throughout.
The underside of the vehicle received the same level of detail, with restored suspension, steering, brakes and fuel systems. The original VIN-matching four-speed transmission remains in place alongside the heavy-duty Dana rear axle fitted with 3.54 Sure Grip gears.

The trunk compartment was also restored with factory-style detailing, including a restored jack assembly, reproduction trunk mat and color-matched finishes throughout.
With its combination of documented originality, matching drivetrain, low mileage and high-level restoration work, the 1968 Dodge Coronet R/T represents one of the most collectible and sought-after Hemi-powered muscle cars of its era. See it here.
