Top 10 Trucks Headed to GAA’s Upcoming Auction

By Elizabeth Puckett Feb 15, 2019

1993 Dodge Ram

Without a doubt, trucks have been the breakout niche market for automobile collectors. As we are preparing to scour the floor at GAA for their event that spans from February 28-March 2nd, one thing that stands out to us is the amount of clean pickups included in the 650 vehicle docket. These are the ten trucks that have caught our eye as gems to watch at the upcoming event.

1971 Chevrolet C10

The classic Chevy C10 represents General Motors’ second incarnation of the indefatigable C/K truck, and sales figures speak for themselves. It was during this period of success that Chevy pickups gained extra comfort for everyday use and were soon employed for more than just workhorse capabilities – they were a status symbol. And a cool one at that.

Powering this example is a massive 454-cubic-inch engine with Holley 4bbl carburettor, backed up by a TH400 transmission. It’s outfitted with power steering, air conditioning, and power front disc brakes.

1978 Dodge D100

This stunning pickup should definitely earn a trophy or two during your next car show, not to mention a few turned heads. It’s immaculate, although not completely stock, due to the addition of 20-inch Ridler wheels.

However, this truck is far from 'bling’ by any standard. It received a frame-off restoration, boats a slick green paint job, black interior, and 440ci engine. Should you revert back to factory-installed wheels, you'll have a genuine timewarp on your hands.

1983 Chevrolet Silverado

The 1980s proved a wild time for vehicles made on U.S soil, and pickups certainly benefited from the era of excess. More specifically, they started to gain curb appeal alongside creature comforts that rivalled most luxury saloons. In essence, the pickup was now America's dream car – and none more so than the Chevrolet Silverado.

This beautiful representation of the early Silverado has received a frame-up restoration and fresh coat of Midnight Blue paint. Amazingly enough, it's only ever been owned by one family, who bought it new back in '83.

1996 Ford F150

If you seek something a bit different, here it is! Powered by a beefy 5.8-liter engine, this XLT has chrome bumpers, power locks and windows, and the preferred 507A equipment package. If it’s possible to be cleaner than new, this truck is definitely just that. Its condition has to be seen to be believed.

1993 Dodge Ram

With looks that could kill, this early-1990s Ram showcases the raw elements we search for in a retro truck. Powered by a hearty 5.2-liter V8 engine, the 1993 Dodge represents culture's epiphany point, where sleek lines and rugged utility were blended together for utmost unity.

1988 Chevrolet Suburban

At first, this Suburban’s overwhelmingly monochromatic brown and tan paint job might see you off, but upon closer inspection, pulls you right back in. It's a staple of its time, yet could easily wage highway war on the millennial snowflakes currently bearing status as modern SUVs.

A rugged pickup with permanently fixed camper tops and enough cargo room to haul even Gwyneth Paltrow's ego around, the Chevy Suburban could just be the greatest practical classic out there.

1989 Chevrolet 1500

Is this truck patina? It would certainly appear that way! With a small block Chevy engine under the hood, and 20-inch aftermarket wheels, we actually find this truck to be quite charming. Don't be surprised if the bidding action takes off with this one…

1979 Dodge Prospector

To those unaware, the Prospector is a Dodge Ram that’s uniquely equipped, with an end result that bears an impressive and versatile stance upon other road users. Included on the Prospector when new were additional safety gear and improved suspension components.

Built with the purpose to enhance an already capable pickup, we'd recommend buying this one!

1960 Chevy Apache

The Apache name was introduced for Chevy’s light-weight trucks back in the 1950s, and by the '60s they had gained popularity amongst pickup buyers. Equipped with factory four-wheel drive, this model year sports a commanding front end.

This example has undergone a frame-off restoration and is currently equipped with a Small Block Chevy powerplant and manual transmission. What a hoot!

1999 Ford Lightning

This might be a safe note to end the list on, but it’s not a truck we wanted to skip over. 1999 marked the return of Ford's Lightning, and it came back to the road with a supercharged engine and stout looks. This truck has had one owner, and the miles haven’t even crossed the 20K mark.
