The K5 Blazer, was introduced by Chevrolet in 1969. It was designed and marketed to compete with International Harvester Scout and Ford's Bronco. The edge the Blazer had above its rivals was to simply offer a shorted pickup truck, which both increased interior space, and lowered cost of production with a shared platform. The success of the Blazer prompted GMC, to offer its own version of the truck, The Jimmy. The Blazers and Jimmy's ruled the newly created SUV market for two decades and today remain a favorite choice of vintage 4X4 enthusiasts all over North America.
