Galaxie 500 XL Convertable
1966 Ford Fairlane 500 XL 2 Door
Why This Car Is Special
This 1966 Ford Fairlane 500 XL 2 Door we have at Skyway Classics was the top of the line and advertised by Ford as the sporty version, but ours is a little more sporty than most as it has the 390 engine option.
It features a 390 cubic inch V-8 engine sitting in a factory stock looking engine compartment, It is backed by an automatic transmission and comes equipped with power steering, power brakes, and has newer chrome valve covers, performance spark plug wires, a chrome air cleaner, headers leading to a dual exhaust system. and the original FOMOCO windshield washer water bag.
The undercarriage is structurally sound, with a dual exhaust, and 4-wheel drums to keep it simple. The transmission works great and has stylish Ford factory styled wheels with chrome trim and Cooper Cobra white letter tires.
The red and black bucket seat interior appears as stock with center console, factory and accessory gauges, seat belts and upholstery, red safety lights and white courtesy lights in the lower interior door panels. A back bench with the same presentation, sits under a very nice headliner. Up front the semi padded black/red vinyl dash houses the simple instrument cluster, and glovebox.
The red paint on our 1966 Ford Fairlane 500 XL 2 Door Convertible looks great in contrast to the black top appears to be in very nice physical condition with a nice shine to the paint and a super-clean top. Ours has straight panels with good gaps, original badging, all bright work and chrome is in very good condition, as are drip moldings, window moldings, and a stainless rocker trim strip.
Mechanically, this one can still bring a smile to our faces since the 390 engine has a great sound and solid performance on the open road.
This sporty 1966 Fairlane XL 500 we have at Skyway Classics gives you a great muscle car with plenty of power in a classic look too. This XL might just be the one for you.
