Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1963 Triumph TR4. This TR4 has a lot going for it -- it is a right-hand-drive model that was imported from the UK to the US in 2004. It was fitted at the factory with a Surrey Top and overdrive and finished in rare black paint. It retains its original numbers matching engine -- all confirmed by the included Heritage Trust Certificate. 4,000 miles are shown on the five-digit odometer -- records indicate 104,000 actual miles.
Speaking of records, we have never seen such remarkable documentation on a Triumph. Extensive service records are included dating to 197; prior to that the dealer service book is stamped from 1963 through 1967 -- we essentially have records dating to new totaling thousands.
An engine and gearbox rebuild was commissioned in the 1990s by a long-term owner. Subsequent work since coming to the US has included a reseal, brake and suspension work, overdrive service, carburetor rebuild/balance and more. This TR4 is well-sorted mechanically and runs and drives great. The overdrive functions properly and nearly new Vredestein tires are fitted on chrome wire wheels. Additional upgrades include a stainless exhaust header, aluminum radiator, Moss rear shock conversion with Spax shocks front and rear, braided stainless brake and clutch hoses, and aluminum pulleys with an electric fan conversion. Most bushings and balljoints are newer.
The interior has been re-trimmed to a nice standard including the dash pad. Beautiful gauges are clear and working. The body is very straight and solid with good gaps and original panels. The paint is a mix of original or older lacquer and some more recently painted panels -- it is due for a repaint. No known rust.
Along with service records and Heritage Certificate, this Triumph includes MOT certificates from 1971 through 2004, old registrations and titles, bills of sale showing ownership chain, its UK number plates, original owners handbook, original or period Thor hammer for knock-offs, Surrey soft top section and support and a number of spares. An excellent car for touring and it would be stunning after a repaint. We are happy to arrange shipping to a UK port should you choose to repatriate this example.
