Ford had beaten Chevrolet in the sales war with their Thunderbird outselling the Corvette for the first three years of the Thunderbirds existence. The Thunderbird was quickly becoming a crowd favorite, production numbers and sales would prove that to be true for years to come.
The Corvette received new styling changes in 1958 including new body design with quad headlamps, a washboard hood featuring simulated louvers, twin deck lid chrome strips, and simulated front fender air scoops.
The 1958 DeVille was basically a carryover from '57, but with a facelift. The new grille featured multiple round "cleats" at the intersection of horizontal and vertical members.
The 1958 Bel Air sported "curves where before there were lines." New to the Bel Air line was the well-appointed Impala models available as either a 2-door hardtop coupe or 2-door convertible.
