Believe it or not, the second decade of this millennium is almost in the books, and looking back at the last 10 years, it's interesting to see some of the cars from the that saw a spike in collectibility. With that in mind, we took a look back at some of the cars from this past decade to see what could end up as a collector's car in the near future. As it turns out, the 2010s had something exciting for just about anyone regardless of whether you were into sedans, hatchbacks, trucks, SUVs or sports cars, so check out the slideshow to see our pick of the top 10 future collectible cars from this decade.
Not all future collectibles need to be performance cars, and the Acura TSX Sport Wagon is a perfect example. These luxury station wagons were only produced from 2011 through 2014, but they offered a decent mix of sportiness, style and functionality.
Essentially an SUV version of the Dodge Challenger Hellcat, the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Trackhawk was introduced for the 2018 model year. Coupled with the Hellcat's 707-horsepower supercharged V8 and standard all-wheel drive, this high-powered SUV delivers the best performance of any Grand Cherokee.
Produced for only a single model year, the 2011 BMW 1 Series M Coupe was an instant classic right out of the gate. This car built on the small 1 Series coupe by adding a wider track and a 335 horsepower turbocharged engine under the hood. In true sports car fashion, the 1M Coupe was only offered with a manual transmission as well as a limited slip differential.
The seed for the Chevrolet SS was actually planted with the Pontiac G8 as both sedans had Australian roots, but unlike the Pontiac, General Motors almost guaranteed this car's collectibility by limiting production to less than 13,000 units over four years and making changes almost yearly. The SS debuted for the 2014 model year loaded with content (the only options were a sunroof and full-size spare tire), and it wasn't until the 2015 model year that buyers could get this 415-horsepower sedan with a manual transmission. The final 2017 model year might be this car's most collectible as it featured one-year-only colors.
After years of waiting, enthusiasts in the U.S. finally got a shot at the Honda Civic Type R in 2018. The Type R has been around since 1997, but this version was the first to be sold in the U.S. Backing up its design is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder cranking out 306 horsepower, and a manual transmission and limited slip differential help maximize track performance.
The sixth-generation Ford Mustang marked the return of the GT350, but the Bullitt will probably go down as the most collectible Mustang of this decade. Introduced for the 2019 model year, this marks the third factory-built Bullitt Mustang from Ford, and it's arguably the best in terms of style and performance.
While it's easy to label any exotic performance car a future collectible, the Mercedes SLS AMG Gullwing is a special car. The unique design pays homage to the 300SL Gullwing from the '50s, but it had the performance of a modern supercar. This AMG-tuned sports car had a minimum output of 563 horsepower, but it was available with a tune of up to 622 horsepower.
Part sports car and part family car, the Cadillac CTS-V Sport Wagon was an instant classic when it came out in 2011. This station wagon packs a 556-horsepower supercharged V8 under the hood and a two-box, long-roof design that enthusiasts lust for. Production was relatively limited especially when compared to the CTS and CTS Coupe, and ultra bonus points if you can find one with a manual transmission!
Developed in conjunction between Porsche and Brumos Racing, the 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS B59 Edition meant to celebrate the racing teams legacy. These cars were based on some of the last examples of the 997-generation 911, and they were painted in Brumos Racing's iconic red, white and blue livery. Only five of these cars were built by Porsche, which made them collector's cars right off the showroom floor.
With more than a decade of production itself and an assortment of special editions and performance models, there are already examples of the third-generation Dodge Challenger that are collectible, but the 2018 Challenger SRT Demon is definitely one of the most collectible cars of this decade. Only 3,000 of these 808-horsepower Challenger were built for the U.S. market (and another 300 for Canada) for only one year, which means that plenty of these cars were tucked away in private collections.
