Restomod 1970 Chevy Chevelle Has An LS1 Heart

Enjoy classic looks combined with modern performance.

The look of this 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle is exactly what so many want in a vehicle. After all, it’s got that undeniable classic American muscle car aesthetic, including dual stripes, hood pins, and American racing 5-spoke wheels. This beauty is headed to the block at Carlisle Auctions, but you have some time to get ready to bid on it. As part of the upcoming Winter AutoFest Lakeland auction, this is surely going to be one of the more desirable options. The auction and a car show are scheduled for February 21 and 22 and will take place in Lakeland, Florida (the car show goes from February 21-23).

Technically, this is a Chevelle SS clone, so you get the look of the Super Sport even though it wasn’t one originally. Even more important, shoved under the hood is a new LS1 V8 crate engine, so you don’t need to worry about needing a rebuild. Instead, this is a turn-key way to enjoy classic looks, plus get modern performance as well as reliability.

This setup includes an aluminum intake, custom short-tube headers, and Texas Speed camshaft. A Holley oil pain and rebuilt 4L60E transmission with a 250 stall converter help punch up the fun factor a little more.

As they say, it’s great to have a lot of power but it’s even better to be able to control it, too. A 3.31 posi rear end helps. Up front are Heidts tubular front control arms. In the rear is a four-link suspension, so you’ll find this beast handles quite well.

Other details are certainly impressive on this Chevy. For example, the entire frame is powder coated, guarding against corrosion. Everything for the interior is new, including the dash and console. A Vintage Air AC unit means not needing to sweat it out during long summer drives. Dakota digital gauges are easy to reference quickly, another big plus.

Receipts and pictures of this car’s build will be included. The bad part is this 1970 Chevelle isn’t going to stick around forever, since it’s destined for the auction block. Register to bid so you have a shot at driving this restomod. Being a bidder at Winter AutoFest auction means you and one guest get full access to the hospitality area during both days of the auction. In addition, you get two multi-day passes to Winter AutoFest, an exciting car show event, automotive flea market, and car corral. Additional guest passes for the auction are available for $50.00 each.

Special offer for bidders – call (717) 960-6400 and use promo code FLORIDA50 to receive $50 off a bidder’s registration!

Carlisle Auctions will be rolling out quite a few other classic cars for you to bid on. And don’t forget they’re on the lookout for high-quality consignments.
