Back in 1984, Car and Driver sang praises for the Porsche 944, naming it the “Best Handling Production Car in America.” Yes, it beat out the venerable Porsche 911 for that title, along with quite a few other impressive vehicles. When you get behind the wheel of this car, you’ll feel the balance between front and rear, making it great to take on winding country roads or even to the local track.

While the Porsche 924 had some notable flaws, those were ironed out for the 944, making it a “Porsche’s Porsche” worthy of the name. One of the big changes was the addition of a balance-shaft design sourced from Mitsubishi, reducing undesirable noise and making for a much more pleasant experience. That way, when you push this car on a straightaway that 2.5-liter four-cylinder really sings.

Amazingly, the paint on this Porsche is completely original. This is a one-owner car and has been lovingly cared from since the day it left the dealer lot. With under 44,000 miles it’s also been used sparingly. You’ll note the leather upholstery has a nice shine and lack of damage, the plastic on the center console and dash looks fresh, and everything original for the interior is still in place.

Such a fine example of the Porsche 944 is worthy of collecting. At under $22,000 it’s also one of the most affordable ways to become a Porsche owner, giving you access to circles you might not have thought were possible before. In addition, you’d be getting a car that’s all about the joy of driving.

Contact Gaudin Classic to inquire about purchasing this car. You should know the company has an excellent reputation, being the first Porsche Classic Partner in North America, so you can be assured this and the other classic vehicles it offers are in excellent condition.
