A California classic with just 63,000 original miles.

Chevrolet offered the Corvair model from 1960 through 1969 in two generations, and it was GM's attempt to offer a mass production car powered by a rear-mounted, air cooled-engine. In fact, today it remains the only American-designed passenger car produced for the masses. In 1962, GM debuted its RPO 690 Code for the Spider Package for top-of-the-line models including the limited-edition convertibles and Monza Club Coupes. Classic Motorcars is excited to offer the chance to take home this first-generation 1963 Chevrolet Corvair Turbo Monza Spider.

Slathered in a deep black finish with a white convertible top, the exterior of this classic Chevy appears to be in excellent shape. Just 64,000 miles have accumulated on the clock of this Corvair Monza Spider, an incredibly low number for its age but enough to know it was enjoyed and stowed away collecting dust.

Powering this classic is a rear-mounted flat-six engine equipped with GM's first production turbocharger and fed by a single carter side-draft carburetor. Power is shifted through a 4-speed manual transmission shifts and a 3.55:1 gears ratio. Producing up to 10 pounds of boost, the turbocharger's 3-inch turbine impeller bumps this classic from 104-horsepower to above 150-horsepower, almost a 50 percent increase.

Drop the convertible top to reveal a brilliant red interior still original to the car. One way to identify a performance model Corvair is by the different instrument cluster embedded in the dashboard featuring faintly different engine gauges than a base model, as well as a 120-mph speedometer, trip odometer, and 6,000-rpm tachometer.

A West Coast car, this example recently became available from a reputable collector. The sale of the car includes the manuals and paperwork. If this clean Chevy Corvair Monza Spider is calling your name, contact Classic Motorcars today. The car is listed at $27,500, but feel free to make an offer here.
