What's cooler than a pro-street compact station wagon?

There's just something cool about seeing small family cars transformed into hellacious performance vehicles, and that's exactly what somebody did with this 1980 Ford Pinto. In its original form, this Pinto was a mild-mannered compact car, but somewhere along the way, this one was transformed into an extreme Pro Street woodie wagon.

This two-door Pinto wagon originally came with a 2.3-liter four-cylinder under the hood, but that has been swapped for a built 289 CID V8. The engine has been upgraded with 351W heads, a Weiand hi-rise intake and dual four-barrel Holley carbs as well as an MSD ignition and an aluminum radiator with a large electric fan. Custom headers add even more power, while the H-pipe and side mount dual exhaust with glasspacks makes this car sound every bit as menacing as it is. Finally, the engine's power is sent to the rear wheels through a C4 three-speed automatic transmission and a Currie 9-inch rear end. Traction bars and a Wilwood four-wheel disc brake upgrade ensure this car is both safe and fun to drive.

Perhaps the only thing more attention-getting than the air intake is this car's dark red paint with wood grain body siding and matte black racing stripes up the hood. Inside, the rear seats have been replaced by a roll cage, and the front seats get four-point racing harnesses. One interesting thing to note is that the American Racing wheels used on this car add a cool look without necessitating the rear wheel wells to be tubbed.
