1974 Pontiac Trans Am

This beautifully blue Trans Am will go up for auction the weekend of September 21st.

When it comes to second-generation Pontiac Trans Am, the later years are definitely more popular thanks to larger production numbers as well as movie appearances such as Smokey and the Bandit. The early '70s T/As are not only rarer today, they also pack more performance like this 1974 Pontiac Trans Am with a 455 CID V8 peeking out from the shaker hood.

Out of all the Firebirds built in 1974, only 10,255 were Trans Ams – and of these T/As, only 4,648 had the (non Super Duty) 455 CID V8, and this one will cross the auction block at the Saratoga Auto Auction on September 20-21. The cool part about this car is that it comes with its window sticker and build sheet indicating that it was originally sold in Syracuse, New York just a couple hours away from this auction in Saratoga Springs.

The overall condition is incredible for any car that seems to have spent almost a half a century in the Rust Belt. That being said, this car's information does not include any details on how many owners it's had, mileage or if it has been restored. What is clear, though, is that car is has a unique look to it with the factory Admiralty Blue with the light-blue Screaming Chicken and Trans Am decals.

Under the hood is the middle engine option that was available on the '74 Trans Am with the (250 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque) 455 CID V8 and four-barrel carb, which was just a $45 option back then! This car has the automatic transmission, and being a Trans Am, it wears the factory five-spoke rally wheels, rear spoiler and rally gauges inside. For improved performance, the Trans Am came standard with the dual exhaust, power disc brakes and power steering.
