You can be hauling more than groceries with a big block under the hood of this wagon!
Station wagons were designed to haul passengers and cargo with ease, but this particular 1983 Oldsmobile Cutlass Cruiser was designed to haul... well, other things! While you might expect an Oldsmobile station wagon to have wood paneling, this 1983 Cutlass Cruiser being sold by Streetside Classics is packing a big-block V-8 under that cowl inducted hood. And with a price of just $14,995, this muscle car station wagon is a steal.
When it was built, this car originally was equipped with a GM's venerable 3.8-liter V-6, and while there were V-8 options for this car back then, you couldn't get it with a big block. Stuffed under the hood of this car is a big-block 455 CID V-8 giving this station wagon plenty of get up and go. While the idea of a big-block wagon might seem like the ultimate sleeper, this car's dual exhaust and Flowmaster mufflers (with the chrome tips poking out just behind the rear wheels) probably won't fool too many people into getting smoked in a drag race.
Except for the aftermarket stereo and dash-mounted tachometer, the interior of this car is about as original as it was in 1983. The same can't be said for the exterior. First of all, there's the massive cowl inducted hood, but the maroon paint with gold racing stripes is very fitting for this car. The best part of the paint job is the Oldsmobile rocket pinstriped down the side of the car! A set of American Racing Torque Thrust wheels finishes off the sporty look of this wagon.
The 1983 model year was the last year of the G-body Custom Cruiser and had a big-block wagon like this gone into production, things may have worked out a little differently for Oldsmobile in the end.
