1967 Chevy Corvette Packs A Rare COPO 427

Chevrolet did all it could to discourage the average consumer from buying this version of the C2.

While the C2 Stingrays are incredibly desirable cars, this particular 1967 Chevrolet Corvette is especially lust-worthy. Only a handful of these were built in 1967, thanks to GM purposely understating peak output for the optional engine. The idea was to discourage regular consumers from buying these cars, marketing them instead to those who raced on tracks. That’s why finding one of these for sale is amazing, and we have Charlie’s Classic Cars to thank for that.

You get plenty of potent performance with this Stingray, thanks to the Turbo Jet 427ci V8 engine. While this big block V8 was advertised as putting out 400-horsepower, some claim the reality is upwards of 500-horsepower. Paired with an automatic transmission, the combination is both powerful and smooth. A dual master cylinder brake system is included, which was a new addition to the Corvette line for 1967.

Many consider 1967 to be the cleanest version of the C2 Corvette. While it obviously retains the aggressive Stingray styling, most of the exterior trim has been removed or redesigned for a more subtle appearance. That more understated presentation is offset by the bright red paint, which perfectly accentuates the curvature of the body and details like those big front fender vents. Factory wheels, red line tires, and an aggressive hood scoop complete the look.

What might be surprising to many is the interior is also red, including not only the seats but also the carpeting, dash, and door panels. Even more importantly, the factory gauges, controls, steering, wheel, and shifter are all in place. Every detail of this legendary car has been lovingly preserved or restored, resulting in a solid presentation inside as well as out.

Even though the exact number of 1967 Chevy Corvette COPO 427 models isn’t precisely known, most agree the number is well under 100 and very likely doesn’t exceed more than three dozen. At any rate, that kind of scarcity makes this ‘Vette particularly valuable and worthy of showing off.
