This is only the second time in the Petersen’s history than an honorary member has been added to their Board of Directors – the first such appointment taking place in October 2018, upon where Dr. Wolfgang Porsche was welcomed to participate.

Although the Duke of Richmond’s name may not be universally known, his classic racing events certainly are. As the owner of the Goodwood Estate and founder of both the Goodwood Festival of Speed and the Goodwood Revival in 1993 and 1998, respectfully, the Duke remains one of the world’s greatest stewards of motor racing history.

Instrumental in building the modern concept of vintage racing events, the Duke has promoted a mantra responsible for keeping automotive heritage alive. With decades of experience, influence and expertise under his belt, the new addition to the Board should prove to be a guiding light for the museum’s future development.

“The Duke is one of the most knowledgeable and influential figures in the world of car culture,“ said Petersen Automotive Museum Executive Director Terry L. Karges. “His ongoing position with the Petersen should be a great asset to us for years to come.”

Upcoming events at the Florida Museum include a Zora Duntov Tribute Weekend on July 27, and a Petersen Block Part on June 15; celebrating the Petersen’s quarter-century. You can buy tickets and find out more on these events through the official Petersen Automotive Museum website.

This year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed begins on Thursday, July 4, and runs through until Sunday, July 7. The Goodwood Revival 2019 runs from September 13 through September 15. You can buy tickets here.
