This 440 restomod has a state of the art chassis hidden underneath its iconic bodywork

As one of the most demonic looking cars ever designed, this 1968 Charger R/T couldn’t look more purposeful if it tried. If there was ever a car that is best suited to black on black, the Charger would easily sit at the top of that hierarchy.

Offered by Vanguard Motor Sales, this all black 440 will transform anyone into a legend with the click of its beefy purposeful doors. Finished in all black from head to toe, the Charger is not only a matching numbers example but also has enjoyed a full rotisserie restoration. Judging by the electronic instruments awaiting inside, we would suggest in the last 1000 miles, too.

The 440 motor is numbers matching with casting dates of September 18, 1967, finished in the recognisable duck egg blue engine paint. Unlike its siblings, this 440 has been fired into the 21st century thanks to a state of the art electronic fuel injection system by Holley.

Underneath you’ll find that the restomod suggestions haven’t faltered. Chassis upgrades include a particularly modern 4-wheel Ride Tech coil over suspension system with 4-link taking up the rear mated to a wishbone front end. Wilwood 6 piston calipers up front will rip your head off with 4 piston Wilwood calipers for the rear.

With a show quality paint job as the icing on the proverbial cake, this is a subtle restomod that provides only the subtlest of clues that the poorer parts of the sixties design have been brought up to date.

Being a ‘68 car, one can easily live their Bullitt fantasies safe in the knowledge they’ll avoid the sticky end of the movie car, thanks to its restomod embellishments. It also features the twin rear lights that were exclusive to this model year, moving to the stretched light unit of the ‘69 cars as featured in The Dukes Of Hazzard. Custom Forgeline offset wheels complete the package, with 19s up front and 20s on the rear.
