No Reserve Project Car: 1963 Corvette Split Window

This estate car needs a visionary.

The 1963 Corvette split window is a one-of-a-kind car with the most recognizable rear window(s) ever found on an American sports car. This is a highly coveted model had a limited one year run, and tend to get collectors worked up when one comes up for public auction. Because of its highly-collectible nature, they’re becoming harder to find, and buying one can make you dig deep into your pockets to bring one home. This unfinished project car from Tom Mack Classics is heading to auction with a great backstory, and is selling without a reserve.

This split window coupe Corvette has amazingly been in the same family for over 20 years. Mr. McCormick was a real car guy, whose passion steered him towards the Corvette moniker. Having an engineering degree, Michael wanted to restore this special Corvette himself, but unfortunately he passed away before it could be completed.

This particular example is one that comes titled in North Carolina, and is reportedly a numbers matching L76 option 327 cubic-inch V8 engine that produces 340-horsepower, and is backed by a four-speed manual transmission - this will be a blast to drive when it’s restored!

The original color is code 941 Sebring Silver with Black interior. This ‘Vette is reportedly one of only approximately 3,516 finished in the color, which had an original $80.70 premium to have it from the factory. The body was stripped down to expose its original fiberglass panels. Some disassembly has been done and many parts come with the car (as pictured), the ad offers that this was a running car when the restoration was started.

This is a rare opportunity to own a correct split window Corvette that shows its true bare bones before restoration - no surprises with this one. Bid on it when the fall auction starts on September 27th - register to bid here.
