Elton John's 1972 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona could be yours!

A Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona previously owned by the Rocket Man himself is set to cross the auction block yet again. When Sir Elton John's last sold at Silverstone Auctions in July 2017, the hammer came down at $669,236.

This time around, the Ferrari Daytona is being offered through a deceased estate, and the pre-auction listing price for the car is considerably lower than what it sold for two years ago. With an estimated price of $515,694 to $576,666, even the high end of the scale is a $93,000 price drop.

Said to be Elton’s very first Ferrari, records show that the owned the Daytona model from 1973 to 1975. About 82,000 miles have accumulated on the clock since production. Only 158 right-hand Daytona models built were built through the United Kingdom. Detailed records show that this car was babied over the years, and it has every service and receipt available. The Ferrari even has documentation that comes with it including order forms and the factory build sheet.

Since parting with this Ferrari, Elton has owned quite a few V12 models including a 365 BB, Testarossa, and a 512 TR. Maybe this Daytona set the bar to making Elton John a Ferrari fan for life.

Two years ago, the car was purchased at auction from Mr. Harris to join his collection among a 1974 Ferrari 264 Dino, a 1991 Ferrari Testarossa, and multiple Porsche models. Mr. Harris passed away this year, and that is why the car is up for sale again.

The Daytona will cross the Sale of Ferrari and Porsche 2019 auction block with Silverstone Auctions on September 21st at the Dallas Burston Polo Club in Warwickshire. Only then will we be able to see just how much Elton’s first Ferrari will sell for.
